Midnite UK Review (2023)

Midnite is the sportsbook brand owned by Dribble Media Limited, a gaming company that launched in 2015. However, the company did not announce Midnite until 2020, six years after the UK gambling commission issued its licence for the first time and a year after the second.

The Midnight platform is domiciled in London and is not licensed by any other gambling regulatory authority apart from the UKGC, which may imply it is only available in the UK. Unexpectedly, however, the platform also operates in the Brazilian market.

According to Midnite, the site was built by eSports enthusiasts interested in sports betting. The platform is also associated with the founder of Betfair, the world's leading betting exchange, among other popular names in the betting industry.

Midnite Sportsbook

The first thing you note when visiting Midnite is its simplistic design that's easy on the eyes. The platform's home page focuses on eSports, but you can access both Sports and eSports from any page on the site. You also get the conventional listing of sports available and popular features on the left side.

The bet slip is on the right and shows you the total return of your selection above the "place bet" tab at the bottom. You can also select multiple bets with unique stakes. The bet slip will show your maximum possible return for all your selections.

Sports Available

Midnite started as a dedicated eSports bookie, so their eSports list is wider than most UK bookmakers. At the same time, their normal sports offerings are a bit limited. Still, you get a comprehensive list of events in all their listings. Here's what to expect, beginning with eSports and ending with traditional sports:

As you can see, Midnite's eSports list covers all the major games, including shooters, strategy games, and electronic sports such as FIFA, making a total of about 15 options. However, the bookie did not have any competitions under StarCraft, Call of Duty, Valorant, FIFA, NBA2K, Wild Rift, Overwatch, Rocket League, and King of Glory at the time of writing.

Also noteworthy is that the conventional "Sports" section is more populated than eSports, which is not uncommon even for an eSports-centred bookie. Traditional sports betting remains more popular among punters and has a wider selection of games and ongoing competitions.

Midnite listed the following sports at the time of writing:

• Football: By far the most selections of any sports offerings. Features over 60 competitions, including popular ones such as EPL, UEFA, La Liga, World Cup, and Italy Serie A, alongside other events worldwide.
• Tennis: There were 5 competitions at the time of writing, which included ATP Astana, WTA Ostrava, Challenger Campinas, ATP Tokyo, and WTA Monastir. Tennis Outrights for the next year were also listed, but there weren't many options available.
• Basketball: Outrights for the NBA preseason, Bundesliga, and NBA, totalling only three competitions.
• Baseball: Major League Baseball only
• Table Tennis: markets for TTStar Series, with the option for in-play betting.
• Cricket: Twenty20 Internationals
• American Football: Major tournaments from the USA, including the NFL, NCAA Division 1, and NCAA Division 1 Mid-American Conference
• Boxing: Professional Boxing matches
• Ice Hockey: Champions Hockey League and Finland Liiga
• Darts: The Icons of Darts 
• Handball: Danmark Håndboldligaen

Midnite did not have any events or outrights for upcoming events in Motor Sports, Golf, Badminton, Rugby Union, Futsal, Aussie Rules, horse racing, and Snooker at the time of writing. This trend is especially unusual for horse racing, given that horse racing often only seconds football in popularity among punters.

Apart from football and tennis, most of the sports listed on Midnite had a very limited selection of competitions.

Betting Markets

Midnite had just over 20 betting markets for matches in popular sports such as football. For example, we found 24 betting markets for an EPL event, including match winner, Asian Handicap, European handicap, double chance, correct score, total goals over/ under, 1st/2nd half result, odd or even total, and goal scorers, among others.

The same trend was established in other popular football tournaments, including UEFA, Bundesliga, England Championship, and Spain La Liga. However, less popular events such as South Africa PSL, Portugal Liga 2, and USA MLS only had outrights, as is often the case across betting platforms.

Another sport with at least 20 betting markets was American Football, which had bets such as goal scorer, specific quarter spread, total points over/ under, money line, 1st team to score, specific quarter money line, etc.

Averaging 20-30 betting markets in football are not as many as you would expect for the sport considering leading sportsbooks such as Bet365, William Hill, Betvictor and the like will usually have up to 100+ betting markets for matches in renowned tournaments such as the EPL. Still, they may be enough to get by for a punter who is comfortable choosing only the conventional bet types.

Unfortunately, Midnite did not have comprehensive betting markets for the rest of the sports offerings, often providing 1-5 markets only, as in the case of Cricket, Baseball, Basketball, and Handball.

Midnite also lacked offerings in most of the listed sports despite ongoing competitions. For example, there was nothing under Motor Sports. Yet, events such as the Japanese Grand Prix, Brands Hatch, and Nascar Cup Series 2022 were upcoming within a few days in the same month.

eSports had more betting markets than the traditional Sports on Midnite. For example, we counted over 70 betting markets for League of Legends, while Dota 2 had over 20 bets. Still, the likes of Rainbow Six and StarCraft 2 only had the "match winner" market.

Betting Margins/ Odds

Midnite generally maintains standard odds when compared to other bookmakers. You will rarely find worse odds than the competition, and they won't offer you dramatically better odds either.

For example, we compared Midnite to Betway and Unibet for the same League of Legends competition (MAD Lions vs Saigon Buffalo). Midnite had a betting margin of 7.04%, Betway had 8.033%, and Unibet gave us 7.94%. In this case, Midnite offered more competitive betting margins than all the other two more popular bookies.

We also did the same calculations in football, focusing on a Leicester vs Nottingham Palace match. Midnite was found to have betting margins of 8.96%, Betway had 5.03%, while Unibet gave us 3.6%, making Midnite's odds a bit higher. We also compared the three bookies using a Rayo Vallecano vs Elche match and got 8.73%, 5.10%, and 5.15%.

To conclude on betting margins, Midnite offers better numbers in the eSports category than in the traditional sports compared to other bookies.

Live Streaming and In-Play Betting

Unfortunately, Midnite has yet to offer live streaming services for eSports or conventional sports sections. This news is no surprise for a relatively new bookie because more established betting sites tend to monopolise streaming rights.

Still, Midnite provides in-play betting on most of their sports and eSports listing. It is an easy-to-locate feature under every section's tab and within various competitions. However, you will find that non-esports live betting services are more readily available than eSports in-play betting because there are more ongoing physical sports competitions worldwide than eSports.

At the time of writing, in-play betting was available for an EZ KATKA vs Anime Enjoyers Dota 2 match, with betting markets such as match winner, map winner, and correct score. In-play betting options were available for about 8 football matches and 2 tennis games in normal sports. There were about 15 betting markets for in-play matches in football.

Promotions: Free Bet Friday and Midnite VIP Draw

Midnite tries to keep things interesting for ongoing users with two promotions other than the welcome bonus, including Free Bet Friday and Midnite VIP Draw.

Free Bet Friday is tailored to attract loyalty among the followers of Midnite's Instagram (@Midnitefootball) and Twitter (@Midnite) channels. The promotions involve answering a question posted on these accounts every Friday morning, after which 6 winners (3 from Instagram and 3 from Twitter) are awarded £20 free bets.

Moreover, Midnite does not require any purchases or payments from its users to qualify for the free promotion. You only have to be a Midnite user from the UK.

In the Midnite VIP Draw, you get a chance to win VIP tickets to a particular match that Midnite determines. This promotion comes more rarely and involves seats worth up to £3,600. However, unlike the Midnite Friday Promotion, you need to place a selected minimum bet.

Midnight also allows for limitless entries to the promotion, which means you can play multiple times to increase your edge. However, you cannot use your bonus bet to enter this prize draw.

Bet Limits

Both small stake and high roller punters are well catered for at Midnite. The minimum stake is 5p, and the maximum win is capped at £25,000 or its equivalent in the currency that you are using. This winning limit cuts across eSports, traditional sports, and non-sport special bets. It is not the biggest among bookies, but it is still decent enough for most punters.

Other Special Features: Cash Mode

Cash Mode is a special Midnite feature that makes the bookie stand out from the rest of its class. It is a unique product that allows players to bet on their performance. To join, you only have to enter your account, connect to your favourite supported game, complete various challenges proposed by the platform, and possibly win cash prizes for betting.

The site presents the challenges based on your skill, which means you can join regardless of your in-game skill level. So far, the games available with Cash Mode have been Call of Duty, Dota2, Warzone, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

However, Midnite had taken down Cash Mode at the time of writing. News on the platform is that they want the Cash Mode feature to offer the ultimate entertainment experience. Therefore, they are making "significant under-hood improvement and design updates" in readiness for a relaunch.

The feature lets you add an extra challenge to your game choice. The challenge is determined by Midnite and is entirely based on your skill level. Therefore, you will always have something suitable regardless of your skill level.

The live chat feature is especially unusual for a young betting platform. However, it is not available 24/7 and does not work on weekends either.

Payment Methods

The platform has tried to strike a reasonable balance between card and e-wallet payment methods to provide 5 ways of depositing and withdrawing, including:

• Visa: minimum deposit and withdrawal of £5. Deposits are instant, while withdrawals take up to 4 hours
• Mastercard: £5 minimum deposit (instant) and withdrawal (up to 4 hours)

As expected, deposits are processed instantly for all payment methods, while eWallets are faster for withdrawals. It is also worth noting that the minimum deposit amount of £5 cuts across. Moreover, there are no deposit fees for any of the payment methods.

Withdrawals are straightforward on Midnite. You only have to go to the "account" section, choose a payment method, provide the required personal data, and select an amount before pressing "confirm." You will only be able to withdraw via the same banking method you used to fund your betting account, as is the case across betting platforms.

Betting App

Midnite has a dedicated mobile betting app, but it is only available for iOS users. It is a high-end betting app that boasts 4.2 stars on the app store. The app maintains the same dark, uncluttered look of the website and offers all its features plus more.

For example, you get live streaming for eSports, great stats for live betting, and a community section where you can go to discuss eSports, punting tips, and the latest promotions available on Midnite.

We are still waiting to see if Midnite will launch an app for android users. In the meantime, punters using android devices can still access the platform via the mobile-optimised site. It is just as functional and considerately rearranges the components to ensure you get a great view and easy access to all the services.

For example, while the bet slip appears on the right side of the site when using your PC, it is tacked into a button towards the bottom of your screen as soon as you select your mobile device. It is quite neat, easy to access, and fast.

Cash Out Feature

Early and partial cash out are available on Midnite for pre-events and in-play betting. However, you will not be eligible for free bets where you cashed out early on your qualifying bet. This consideration may be especially vital to keep in mind when going after the welcome bonus as a new user.

The cash-out feature is located under "My Bets" at the bottom of the page showing your open wagers. It displays the total return you stand to make if you wait for the match to end, followed by the amount you will make if you cash out early.

Midnite Responsible Gambling
